What should one do when one's toddler opens a brand new carton of eggs, takes them to the den (whose floor is covered in carpet) and proceeds to crack them... seven of them (but I'm just making a cake!)?
Make scrambled eggs, of course. Even if no one wants to eat them and it becomes a feast for the family dog. The happy result of the scrambled eggs is that mommy decided to add wine to the grocery list for next week. Good wine... maybe two bottles.

Better make it 3. You will need one for your bedside drawer.
Oh Aunty! Since I posted this a few hours ago, we've had to call the Poison Control Hotline! I didn't make sure that the childproof (what a joke) lock was back on the cabinet when I got the dishwasher detergent out and Abby tried to eat one of the gelpacs. She immediately spat it out... and they said she sounded fine... but my heart is still racing.
I hope Abby is ok. What a nightmare. The stress of raising children must shorten our lives by at least a decade. I am sure the joy they bring should even things out but I am not so sure...!
What is your email?
Okay. Apparently we are in FULL CRISIS MODE in the Cannady house tonight! J.T. has written his first: Der Dad, I hav ren awa. J.T. (Dear Dad, I have ran away). Of course, he didn't actually run away... he was just mad with us for scolding him about misbehaving during PaPa's Birthday Dinner tonight. Rob and I have now each taken three ibuprofen and both kids are bathed and parked in front of the television... my favorite babysitter. Because: They are glued to one spot and are momentarily content... which means I can take a breath. Aren't weekends supposed to be RELAXING!!
Oh you poor thing! Did you manage to get out to get that wine?
Do you have a local bottleshop that delivers?
Come on, THINK girl, this is important!
Seriously though, I hope your little one is ok.
Weekends relaxing? Ha ha.
Hope things have settled down.
I need some chocolate now.
Oh honey, you may need to move into spirits, shots maybe? I don't think wine is gonna cut it!
OMG...I look away from your blog for less than a day and come back to discover runaways, poisonings, alcoholism, and egg-related redecorating. Yep, sounds like the average Sunday with kids...
Hope you have a better Monday.
Oh dear...
I'm with Sussanah here - wine just ain't gonna cut it ;)
Good grief. Parenting-day from hell. If you just stick with wine I'll be impressed. I'd probably take up smoking again too! Fingers crossed for calmer times tomorrow.
