Taking the Plunge

For years I have nervously contemplated the idea of dying my hair. It is quite dark and I lived in fear of turning some horrible color that wouldn't match my skin tone and being stuck with it. After weeks of careful research into colors/highlights and which hairstyles best suit round faces,

I took the plunge. Or at least the paint brush/foil strips. My stylist and I decided that since I was a bit apprehensive about the whole thing, we'd wade our way in with highlights and lowlights instead of a full dye job.

I'm pretty happy with the results. It covers the gray (mostly), without the shock of a completely different overall color.

Baked French Toast recipe:

Melt 1 stick of butter then add in 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 t. cinnamon and stir together. Pour into a 9x13 pan covering the bottom. I used my hands to get it all over the bottom. It's way too hard to spread otherwise.

Layer slices of bread on the sugar mixture with the crusts removed. Do 2 layers. I used 15 pieces of bread. Fill in the holes with smaller pieces.

In a mixing bowl whisk together 2 cups of milk and 6 eggs. Pour over the bread. Put it in the oven at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. When it looks baked and golden, pull it out and drizzle syrup over the top. Put it back in the oven under the broiler until brown and bubbly. This takes only a minute or two. You have to watch it otherwise it will burn. When you serve it, flip it over so the sugar on the bottom is on the top.

Here's the blog I got it from and there are pictures in case you need to see it. I'm very visual so sometimes I have to see it.

You are so beautiful - your hairdresser did a perfect job with the foils.

Now I just need to go back and salivate over the baked french toast recipe.

Do you have this in pink? said...

Do you do more than just colour your hair? You look 5-10 years younger in the bottom shot......Now I want my hair revamped too!
