In a few weeks I will have been working out regularly for one year. One whole year. For the first time in my life, I have stuck with it for more than a few weeks or months and can proudly say that I have lost, and kept off, 15 pounds thus far! I had hoped that number would be closer to 40, but I'm willing to count the 15 pounds as a victory. I would like to lose the other 25, but I'm not obsessing over it.
Much.
Rob needs to lower his cholesterol, so our entire family is eating healthier (except the pickier members, who still turn their noses up at most of the vegetable group). We have switched to whole grains completely, including pastas and rice, added more veggies into our meals and cut out some of the sugary goodies. Some, not all. PMS would be a nightmare for everyone in our house without at least a little bit of chocolate. My favorite treat now is a handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips or a bowl of Raisin Bran.
Yesterday I tried this new workout:

It kicked my arse six ways to Sunday. I figured 20 minutes of intense workout would be a piece of cake as I've been doing a kickboxing cardio program since April. Wrong. Five minutes in and my heart was pounding, sweat was beading and I was sucking wind like an octegenarian on a mountain climb. Which means it was a good workout of course. Might be just what I need to kick start the second year of working out.
If I can manage to not trip myself with my own feet in the grocery aisle that is.

15 lbs. is great!!! If I wasn't doing Weight Watchers I wouldn't be losing anything at all. It's really hard. I watch the Biggest Loser and to see those contestants lose 10 lbs. in a week is amazing. I know they have a lot to lose and they're working out hours and hours each day but it's inspiring.
I was wondering how Jillian's DVD was. Now I know. HARD!! :-) I'm looking to get another DVD so I can workout at home when I can't get to the gym. I have a couple already but I want to add something different to the program. I'd rather go to the gym but that doesn't always happen. I know you're completely shocked by this...
Much love from NJ,

I found your 15 lb, Melinda. Would you like it back?
Well done you on your 15lbs and for your persistence. I exercise all the time and I am probably 10lbs heavier than I'd like to be. I eat a good anti-cholesterol diet but like you have the pms chocolate thing going on. Actually to be honest, it is probably more of a chocoholic thing going on. But not excessive, probably just one sweet treat at the end of the day with a cup of tea. I think now that I am old the only way to lose weight would be to take up cigarettes and laxatives and I don't want to. Just going to have to come to terms with my curvy ass. It would be nice if some of the 10lbs had been deposited on my boobs to balance me out again, but no, scrawny as ever.
I am alos wondering if I should blame too much time on the computer and whether I'd lose weight if I limited sitting at the computer to an hour a day. Might try that. Maybe....
Hi, I´ve lost 23 kilos in one year! I eat only 100 % ryebread, I eat regularely and right: half a plate salad or vegetables, one quarter of meat or fish and one quarter of potaoes or rice or pasta. I haven´t added so much moving, but I think this is quite a good result! All the best to you!
