Football. American Football. Entire Saturdays are devoted to following one's favorite team. Tailgating (drinks, food, socializing) before the game. Cheering during the game. Tailgating after the game.
My favorite team is Georgia Tech.... or as Rob might tell you, whatever team Coach Paul Johnson is coaching. Last year it was Navy, this year it is Georgia Tech. Though I won't watch them on TV because I get too nervous when they aren't doing well and too excited when they are doing well.
Coach Johnson is good with a one-liner: "He ought to leave me alone. I don't go down to McDonald's and tell him how to do his job, do I?" My all-time favorite: "If you can find me one time where I said the team won because of brilliant coaching, I'll kiss your butt at city dock and give you two days to draw a crowd."
I know, I know, the sport haters are cringing. But you love me in spite of my devotion to American Football
I hear you! Except that I am a FSU fan (yes, you beat us a couple of weeks ago and I think the guy who fumbled on the 1 is still walking back to Tally!). Even if we are playing out of town Saturdays are filled with football. I love it!
Don't understand your football, but love what your coach is saying! I also loved tailgating. We were invited to tailgate before a huge game at the Rosebowl in Pasadena to see UCLA play .... um ... some other big uni. And it was astonishing being at a college game with 100,000 people. Who made a LOT of noise. And bands with furry hats and little capes, and huge drums and wrap-around souzaphones. And cheerleaders and marching girls and hoopla. Loved seeing all of that. But the game was unfathomable and kept stopping, so the last ten minutes took forever.

I know absolutley nada, zip, nought, nuthink about American Football.
But I love you anyway :)
Just not a sport-watcher. But am married to a sport-watcher, have a daughter who is a sport watcher and so, it's on a lot.
It would make life much easier for me if I did want to watch sport.
I think I would get American Football to the same extent that you probably get cricket. Mind you I don't get cricket either.
:) Luv ya anyway.
